Description

Pearl Izumi X-Project Elite MTB Shoes - Womens

Mountain bike shoes often have to sacrifice on something. To be comfortable for all-day wear, they lose snappiness, but to be responsive on the XC course, they often give up traction on more technical hike-a-bike sections. If you've been getting around this by keeping multiple pairs of shoes in your garage, let us offer an alternative.

The Pearl Izumi Women's X-Project Elite Mountain Bike Shoe comes with the lightness of an XC race shoe, and the attitude of a trail shoe that wants to go out adventuring after your race is finished. A carbon fiber sole, Boa dial closure, and adaptive synthetic uppers give it its race-ready XC pedigree, but underneath, beefy carbon-tipped TPU rubber lugs are begging to be taken into chunkier, muddier terrain. An EVA foam heel delivers extra cush when you're hopping off and on the bike during all-day soujourns, and the breathable three-layer uppers come free of overlays for a fit that won't feel restricting when a few wrong turns extend your ride.

My first mtb clip-in shoes

"My first mtb clip-in shoes and have to say I like them. I'm a newbie to mtb riding so no insane riding, but they worked well in NV rock strewn desert cpnditions where for me i have to get on/off to avoid the big rocks and the shoes were sturdy and comfortable enough to do some uphill walking. The 36 EU worked for my small (5-5. 5 US women) but wide hobbit feet-- I had been worried shoes would be too narrow. And great customer service by Cambria's Tim! Initial order had been lost, but Tim resent entire replacement order quickly-- Thx Tim! Highly recommend Cambria and the shoes!"

"Great Shoe! Very comfortable, with a great insole, that was very cushioned and had arch support. As with other Pearl Izumi shoes, they do run small. These were narrow. I loved the look of the shoe!!"

"Bought as a gift. My niece loves them."

Pearl Izumi Elite MTB Shoe

"Great product, stiff sole provides good power transfer and comfortable fit. Sizing is a bit smaller than expected, so size up."

Great shoes. Ditch the bulky insole if they run too narrow for you.

"Great shoes that my wife loves and gets many compliments on when wearing. Like most higher-end two-bolt SPD shoes (including her last pair of Pearl Izumi shoes), so tosses the bulky insoles that are included and replaces them with very thin insoles from other shoes (e.g., her previous of running shoes or older bike shoes). That improves the interior volume and makes them super comfortable for her on rides from 50-100+ miles). It's almost like Pearl Izumi kept their old shoe sizes (from several years ago), but in recent years has stuffed bulkier high-tech inserts into them, making them smaller. In either case, that simple switch works for her. NOTE: Expect these to be fairly stiff in terms of walking off-the-bike, especially when brand new, like most higher-end MTB shoes. They are walkable, for sure, but not like the much higher flexibility of lower-end models if that's where you are coming from."

Great Support - Small Toe Box

"The fit is a bit more snug then I would like in the toe box. I love that you can adjust the arch of the support to have a more personalized fit. It really helps with the overall structure of the shoe to fit my needs. I've worn them a few times in both light rides and racing and they've supported me well without any issues. I used them in muddy races with the thicker cleats on the bottom and they had great traction."

Great shoe. Not for size 11 and up.

"I’m a Pearl Izumi fan, but this shoe ran too small for me. They felt a full size smaller than the other PI shoes I ordered. If you were size 11, avoid these. If 10 and smaller, consider ordering a full size larger. Great shoe, though. Excellent color."

This is a great pair

"This is a great pair of shoes, though did not realize they were clipless. I have been able to purchase Shimano sole covers to cover the area cleats would attach to and find they can be used on flat pedals now."

Hurt my feet

"I ordered a half size up from my normal size and while the shoe does not feel too small, The balls of my feet are burning by 10 miles in. I’ve tried so hard to make the shoe work because it’s adorable but I’ve gone back to wearing my old inexpensive shoes."

Tracy C. (1/5)

Pretty much perfect.

"This is my second pair of the same shoe - why? Because the color was cooler than white :) Gotta have the BOA, too. Izumi consistently makes a great shoe and while my road shoes are lighter, I feel more protected in these. The 43 was a perfect fit for my women's size 9.5. Indoors or out, they're great."
