The new version of the Maxxis Forekaster is aimed squarely at modern short travel (100mm-130mm) trail bikes – aka the “downcountry” segment. Intended to be a “Goldilocks” tire, the new Forekaster (released July 2022) rolls faster than a Minion or even the Dissector but provides more predictable cornering, climbing, and braking traction than the Aspen or Rekon.

"I upgraded my Specialized MTB to tubeless Maxxis Assegai front AND Maxxis Forekaster rear tires. Exceptional front-end grip to carry more speed into turns. Enhanced braking traction combined with outstanding compliance over rocky terrain. I did a tremendous amount of research and was skeptical at first about investing with this upgrade. No regrets. What a difference these tires make over entry level stock tires with tubes."
