This isn’t your average hardtail—it’s an unapologetic, steel-framed chaos machine. The Kona Honzo ESD was born as an experiment in pushing geometry to the limits, and what emerged is a trail-devouring, berm-slashing, boundary-breaking beast. With a slack head angle, steep seat tube, and a rowdy 150mm Marzocchi Bomber Z1 fork, this bike rides more like a long-travel enduro rig than any “typical” hardtail.
Built around a burly Kona Cromoly steel frame, the Honzo ESD is the hardtail that full-suspension bikes secretly fear. Whether you're sending techy lines, punishing descents, or just out to cause some trail-side mayhem, this thing is built to shred with barely contained fury. Steel is real—and the Honzo ESD proves it's still a damn riot.

Why You Want This Bike
Because full suspension is overrated—sometimes. The Kona Honzo ESD is a hardtail that lets you ride harder, rowdier, and more connected to the trail than you ever thought possible. It rewards aggression, demands commitment, and absolutely rips. If you're tired of playing it safe and want a bike that thrives on chaos, the Honzo ESD is your metal-clad, slack-angled enabler.
This isn’t just a hardtail. It’s a steel-framed declaration of war.
"The ESD is a unique bike. It’s pretty versatile, while still being quirky and VERY sendy. The frame feels compliant and doesn’t beat up my 47 year old body much at all. I don’t love the GX Eagle drivetrain, but it works. How slack this bike feels completely depends on where your coming from. My last bike was a 63-degree HT enduro fs so the ESD didn’t feel super slack to me, of course it IS slack as heck, but it generally behaves as I need it to. Yes it is looong, but the turning character is generally really good with the exception of very low speeds. I’d recommend it as a burly choice for a trail hardtail rider for sure."

"I don’t know why you’d get another bike at this price point. This thing is the King."
