If you're riding your bike, your chain is going to wear. It's as simple as that, yet so often folks don't know or don't want to check them for wear. And as the chain reaches the end of it's lifespan it starts to wreak havoc on the rest of the bike's drivetrain, causing severe wear on cassettes and chainrings. Instead of replacing all these components, do yourself a favor and invest in one of the most simple tools that every bike rider should own- a chain checker. Then you can replace your chain well in advance of it being fully warn out, and keep your other components in good shape for miles to come.
- 9-, 10- and 11-speed compatible
- To use, insert the pins between two links of chain and press the swing arm tight against them. Read the gauge to determine how worn the chain is.
- At .75%, the chain needs to be replaced
- For 11 Speed chains, .5% may warrant replacement instead.
